Intern Spotlight: Kaylan Provence

Kaylan Provence is currently interning at The Ross House Home and Garden on Church Street in downtown Asheboro, NC. Under the direction of owners Sandra Childs and Terrie Gibson, Provence has learned many refinishing and design skills to include:  sewing, faux painting, floral arranging, lighting.  She is also responsible for furniture identification and running the retail space which she space plans and visually merchandises.

“Since I have been working, I have gained so much knowledge and experience from Sandra and Terrie.  The experience here is unforgettable and rewarding."   Sandra Childs has stated that Provence has a good eye for design and many of her designs have sold very quickly.

Provence just recently refinished and upholstered a 3 panel room divider that needed some additional "style".  As for her next project, she will be painting a client’s kitchen cabinets that involves speckling, sanding, painting and waxing to receive that vintage look the client requests. She is looking forward to getting started on this project and putting her skills to the test.

After graduation in May, Kaylan plans to attend the Interior Design Program at Salem College.
